A budding cartoonist and writer finds himself on Nantucket Island for a getaway with a pal. Things take an unexpected turn when they offer a ride to a carefree traveler (Demi Moore) who’s trying to outrun some bikers. Together with their companions, they get involved in helping Cassandra protect her grandfather's home from a family determined to acquire it. "One Crazy Summer," released in 1986, is an oddball story geared toward young audiences that manages to be enjoyable enough to earn a slightly positive recommendation. The film has some imaginative and unusual moments, especially thanks to Demi Moore’s performance early in her career. She was only 22 years old when the movie was made, and she appears lovely; however, it's odd how she’s dressed in baggy clothes that hide her figure. Other women have smaller parts as well, like Kimberly Foster’s role as cookie. There’s also a humorous spoof of Godzilla that is genuinely entertaining. The film has a running time of 1 hour and 33 minutes and was filmed on location in Nantucket and Cape Cod, Massachusetts. GRADE: B-
