As someone who loves movies, I’m always looking for something to entertain me, but when a film has something meaningful to say or imparts a lesson, that can be really inspiring regardless of the genre. I'm not religious myself, yet I recognize there are positive aspects to those faiths beyond simply spending time in places of worship pursuing unrealistic ideas. This is where this production fits in, even for people who don’t subscribe to any particular belief system. It deals with themes related to Mormonism, but that doesn't make it a promotional piece or anything like that; however, that’s certainly how it might appear at first glance. It really is an enjoyable film, suitable not just for children or women, but for anyone and especially families. The focus wasn’t on religious dogma, but rather the connections between people and having trust in one another to collaborate effectively. Throughout the movie, the characters convey this through their conversations, which makes it easy to keep watching. The story is told from the viewpoint of a teenage girl who doesn't believe in God, and her experiences shaped how she presented this touching and somewhat emotional narrative. It’s a well-made television program, largely due to its PG rating. It features an excellent cast and was filmed in beautiful locations. So just appreciate what it has to offer as someone with feelings, setting aside any religious aspects if they seem too prominent. Watching it won't suddenly convert you into a Mormon. 6/10
