It's a pleasant watch, despite its clear sexism. I recall finding the television show 'On the Buses' when I was younger, through my grandparents, and liking it – though I didn’t fully grasp the humor at that age. I believe I’ve seen this film before. It’s funny in a gentle way; not riotously hilarious, but still agreeable. Reg Varney, Bob Grant, and Stephen Lewis work well together as a group. Lewis' Blakey is almost the heroic figure, even though he comes across as the bad guy – particularly within the story's context, since he’s backing women bus drivers. I have to admit, Grant's Jack is pretty unsettling. It's those kinds of things you don’t pick up on when you’re a child, isn’t it? It has a certain appeal, partly because it offers a glimpse of 1960s/70s England and the buses from that time. The film, and the series itself, are most enjoyable – at least in my opinion – when they're on location with the buses. Undoubtedly sexist and fairly silly, but there are aspects to it that function pretty well.
