The concept behind Old is certainly distinctive and holds some intrigue for a movie. However, that’s largely the sole commendable aspect of it. The film feels disjointed overall; its rhythm is erratic, shifting abruptly between brief scenes. As an audience member, you don't have time to absorb the impact of what just transpired because the narrative immediately rushes on to something else. The script quality is lacking—there’s a considerable amount of dialogue and character behavior that seems forced and illogical. Initially, I attributed the shortcomings to the performances, but it appears the actors are struggling with subpar material. While occasionally cheesy lines can work within a specific film style, they feel out of place given the serious and overly dramatic tone, creating an uncomfortable effect. The story’s trajectory concerning the children also takes a strange and unsettling turn. It's disappointing that this movie possessed so much promise; the promotional materials suggest something far better than what was ultimately presented.
