What’s most surprising about this film is that Jack Ketchum was involved in its creation. However, I guess a director who isn't very skilled can ruin even a decent script—though I wouldn’t necessarily describe this one as good to begin with. It just feels very amateurish overall and doesn't become remotely engaging until Polyanna McKintosh appears about thirty minutes into the movie, but it still isn’t particularly captivating then either. ‘Offspring (2009)’ came before ‘The Woman (2011,’ which is much more well-known and better, where Polyanna McKintosh takes on the main role. I expect that some people who enjoyed 'The Woman (2011)' will want to see this one now without realizing it's a sequel, as I did. But be aware that you won’t get much insight into her character or background; don't let yourself be drawn in because it really isn't even close to being as good as 'The Woman (2011),' so you aren’t missing out on anything significant. If not for a few shocking scenes and the very loud chime bell sounds that appear at random, I probably would have dozed off while watching it; it's best to skip this one.
