‘Official Secrets’ feels like a strange and unusual movie. While it doesn’t entirely click into place, it remains frequently exciting and genuinely enjoyable, focusing on a key person involved in the opposition to the Iraq War. It's still jarring to consider how much misinformation was spread, and ‘Official Secrets,’ despite its shortcomings, ensures that this is brought to mind for years to come. What’s disappointing is that the movie never quite manages to build up enough momentum to reach true greatness. It might have worked very well as a limited television series, but as it exists now, ‘Official Secrets’ is a puzzling yet absorbing political thriller.
