_**The Rat from Hell**_ A businessman living in New York City (Peter Weller) finds himself confronting rodents both in his workplace on Wall Street and within the historic home he considers a fortress. Jennifer Dale portrays his secretary, while Lawrence Dane and Kenneth Welsh appear as coworkers. "Of Unknown Origin," released in 1983, gives me the feeling of a Stephen King story, which isn't surprising considering it’s reportedly one of the horror writer’s preferred films. The parallel between the protagonist’s life within his home-like residence and the rat-infested environment at work is an intriguing element; however, I feel that the central idea—a man battling a single rodent in his gothic house—is too simplistic to sustain a full-length movie. Weller performs adequately as the determined lead character, but honestly, what stood out most for me was Jennifer Dale’s charming performance (she's Cynthia Dale's older sister). Gene Simmons’ wife, Shannon Tweed, has a brief appearance marking her first time acting in a film. The movie is 1 hour and 28 minutes long and was filmed in Montreal. GRADE: C
