From its opening moments, "Nuns on the Run" proves to be a highly enjoyable movie. The jokes land consistently, the brisk tempo is kept up with energy and ease, and it finds a way to satirize various facets of religious institutions without crossing the line into genuine offense. The comedic elements are very successful, frequently enhanced by playful touches that avoid being distasteful, much like the film's religious components which could have easily been seen as inappropriate or objectionable. The soundtrack from Swiss electronic group "Yello" and especially George Harrison’s contribution add to the movie’s lively feel, but ultimately it is a remarkably well-made and refined comedy.
