Did audiences ever really feel comfortable returning to beaches after this movie? Steven Spielberg took Peter Benchley’s remarkable story—about an enormous, meat-eating Great White shark terrorizing the waters near a made-up vacation spot, attacking both residents and tourists—and turned it into what would become one of the most frightening American thrillers ever shown in theaters. The quality of the filmmaking is outstanding! It's almost unbelievable that people working on the movie actually “teased” Jaws, calling it "Flaws," because of some problems with the mechanical shark? That’s rich! Things turned out pretty well for everyone involved. The script by Benchley and Gottlieb is excellent. The musical score by John Williams is brilliant. Spielberg's direction is superb. The acting from Scheider, Shaw, and Dreyfuss is phenomenal. The rest of the cast delivers as well. It's simply wonderful. Jaws is a truly wonderful film; it’s a genuine classic.
