I honestly didn't anticipate a sequel ever happening, but it appears this could become an enduring series now. It’s easy to imagine more installments, especially given the film's performance in theaters. The original cast is back, joined by some new faces. I was pleasantly surprised by Daniel Radcliffe; he made a positive impression on me for the first time since Harry Potter. Seeing Morgan Freeman and Michael Caine again was wonderful. The other actors were fine, but none of them delivered anything particularly remarkable. It's an acceptable continuation, though not quite what I had hoped for. The writing and direction were adequate, and there are some attractive Chinese settings included. The narrative picks up sometime after the events of the first film. Following their most significant heist, the team is now performing public shows. A new member joins the group, a woman intended to even out the dynamic. During one performance, they're forced to cut it short when police raid them. This time, they’ve been set up by unknown individuals and find themselves in an unfamiliar country. To get out of this situation, they have to follow instructions, which they do. When their leader intervenes, things start to shift. The resolution involves another unexpected turn. The movie runs for two hours, but it wasn't difficult to stay engaged throughout because the story and rhythm were generally solid. I’m not completely content, especially regarding the China elements. While Hollywood has found a second market there, that doesn't mean they need to incorporate Chinese themes into every film just to generate revenue. They may succeed financially, particularly in earning Yuan, but it leaves me feeling uneasy, and I suspect others share this sentiment. It’s perfectly acceptable to create full-length films centered on China, but this kind of script modification is becoming tiresome. So many major movies are attempting the same thing now. That aspect disappointed me. Sorry Hollywood, hopefully things will improve next time. _5.5/10_
