Jack Quaid displays a real talent for comedic delivery in this entertaining heist film. He plays “Nate,” an assistant bank manager with a crush on the new employee, “Sherry” (Amber Midthunder), who also happens to be incapable of feeling pain. This condition necessitates practical reminders, like setting alarms, to prompt him to use the restroom, otherwise he risks serious discomfort! Thankfully, it’s not his bodily functions that are compromised, but rather the bank's vault when thieves make off with a significant amount of money and his beloved. Driven by a desire to recover the stolen funds, rescue Sherry, and generally be heroic, Nate embarks on a risky journey—encountering various unsavory characters along the way, including petty criminals and some particularly unpleasant individuals. The question remains: can he succeed? Adding to the pressure, police led by the determined “Mincy” (Betty Gabriel) are also pursuing him, unsure whether he’s an ally or involved in the robbery. As the story unfolds, it becomes clear that Nate is something of a recluse and relies on his online gaming companion, “Roscoe” (Jacob Batalon), for support against this organized group of criminals. The humor occasionally feels repetitive, particularly when Nate's lack of pain perception seems to grant him almost superhuman abilities; however, this is largely part of the charm. Quaid, with excellent support from Batalon, leads audiences through a series of silly escapades that echo familiar storylines from other franchises. The film progresses at a rapid pace as a geek transforms into something akin to a ninja, and it's evident that everyone involved had a good time creating this movie about someone with an unusual trait. If you’re in the mood for undemanding entertainment, this will provide it—it won't challenge your intellect, but you should find yourself laughing periodically.
