It's disappointing how much potential was squandered with this one, especially considering the actors involved. The narrative centers on James Tupper and Anne Heche portraying a family who relocate to Stull, Kansas, a location known for tales of being a portal to Hell. It doesn’t take long before it becomes clear that something isn't right with the townspeople, but the filmmakers stretch out the development considerably, so significant events unfold slowly, and when they do occur, the intended scares feel weak. Clancy Brown manages to bring some believability to his role, and Rebekah Brandes delivers a strong performance as the adolescent struggling to protect her sibling; however, the latter portion of the film unravels, or perhaps collapses into an enormous flaw in the story's construction. The conclusion is admittedly interesting enough to prevent it from being a complete failure, earning it a score of 5/10.
