This little-seen film draws its story from John Blackburn’s 1968 book and was filmed during the spring of 1972, reaching audiences eleven months before “The Wicker Man.” While they have distinctions that make both films worthwhile for viewers, "The Wicker Man" sticks in your mind more readily. Georgia Brown, with her dark hair, is engaging as the central female character, but Diana Dors’ role feels frustratingly over-the-top and lacks depth. A young girl of twelve is portrayed by Gwyneth Strong, marking her debut on screen. The movie has a runtime of one hour and twenty-seven minutes and was filmed in southwestern England, specifically Dartmouth—chosen for its resemblance to Scottish architecture—and Dartmoor National Park, which provided the locations for the chase scenes.
