The movie gets going in an engaging way, featuring a conversation between Alain (played by Guillaume Canet) and Selena (Juliette Binoche) about the fate of reading – whether it’s books, blogs, or something else entirely, and if there's any future for it at all. Unfortunately, it quickly moves into familiar territory, becoming a rather dull and foreseeable exploration of marital infidelity, midlife struggles, and ultimately failing to offer anything fresh. The film feels overly talkative and lacks energy for a significant portion of the runtime, and personally, I felt relieved when the bleakly self-absorbed narrative finally concluded.
