I’ve mentioned before that action thrillers aren't really my thing; I’m open to them, but they rarely grab me the way a western or science fiction film might. So, it says something that this one managed to keep me engaged throughout its runtime. I decided to check it out mainly because of Bob Odenkirk, although I don’t automatically picture him as an action star. The plot and characters didn't particularly resonate with me, but it was diverting enough for me to continue watching, even with the sheer number of people dying. Let me be clear: I’m not objecting to the violence itself, just the frequency of fatalities. It felt almost like the director would announce before each scene, "I want this many corpses," instead of giving acting direction. It's edging toward being comical. Violence can have a real impact and create tension, but when there’s an overwhelming amount of it, that effect diminishes and its meaning gets lost. Whether or not typical fans of action thrillers enjoyed this movie is beyond me, but if you tend to dislike violence, action movies, or Bob Odenkirk, I would suggest skipping it.
