I had honestly put "Nobody" (2021) out of my mind until I decided to watch it recently, but once it gets going, it's genuinely a good time – a completely ridiculous display of violence that manages to be amusing. “Hutch” (Bob Odenkirk) is still indebted to “The Barber” (Colin Salmon) following his previous involvement and is now trying to pay off his $30 million debt by undertaking risky jobs. Following this latest task, he announces plans for a vacation with his wife (Connie Nielsen), children, and father (Christopher Lloyd). They choose to revisit a place from his past, but their stay is short-lived when “Hutch” loses his temper and begins dismantling people, furniture, fruit machines – even a duck boat. This draws the attention of the intimidatingly ruthless “Lendina” (Sharon Stone), whose drug operation he’s disrupted, and she isn't pleased about it. When the action sequences lead to the destruction of a significant amount of her money and drugs, she feels compelled to come and resolve things personally – which is what this film builds toward, quite enjoyably, over an hour and a half. The only thing that would have made it better would be the inclusion of an alligator; there's plenty of broken noses and bones throughout. There’s also betrayal and some new alliances formed before Sharon Stone and Christopher Lloyd get to make their mark: Stone in a style reminiscent of "John Wick," and Lloyd evoking “The A-Team.” If there’s a lesson to be learned, it’s probably not to give your arcade tickets to the girlfriend of the son of the local crime boss, or you might have just gone home earlier feeling more relaxed.
