I wasn’t really compelled to see this film after watching the preview, but I went into it without any strong feelings, and I was pleasantly surprised by what it offered. It turned out to be much better than expected and quite entertaining, with a real sense of suspense throughout. Any discussion of this movie has to include the terrace scene, which stood out as one of its best moments. It brought back memories of 'The Impossible' from 2013, about a family in Thailand caught up in a tsunami. This film feels somewhat like a follow-up because of those parallels, and it’s set in a neighboring country, Cambodia. However, instead of a natural disaster, this family has to deal with the danger created by people involved in a coup. Actors experience periods of success and setbacks, and that seems to be what's happening now for Owen Wilson; several films coming out in 2016 are generating excitement. Pierce Brosnan had a smaller role, but it was still significant to the story. Considering other recent good movies, Lake Bell delivered some of her best work here. I assumed it would feel like older films from the eighties and nineties about people caught up in local conflicts. If you haven’t seen it yet, I want to reassure you that while it does touch on familiar ground, it keeps things interesting with many exciting sequences. Overall, this is a very enjoyable movie and likely to provide an entertaining experience. It's not something I would suggest if you are searching for a truly exceptional film. 7/10
