It’s an okay film; I don't foresee myself rewatching it, but if you’re searching for something similar to another “escape room movie,” then it might work. The movie is strange, that's undeniable. I entered expecting a "House of 1000 Corpses" take on "Escape Room," and it doesn't quite achieve either of those. It feels more akin to "Amityville Horror," "1408," or "Thirteen Ghosts"—with an escape room component, though not nearly as well-executed as any of those titles. I initially assumed Jeni Ross was Debbi Ryan ("Insatiable"), someone I’m not particularly fond of, but she's demonstrated the ability to handle a leading role. Jeni Ross performs admirably here, displaying considerable versatility and expressiveness. The supporting cast is adequate, though largely unmemorable. This demonstrates a common problem with movies that feature sudden character deaths: the filmmakers are unwilling to develop characters only to eliminate them, failing to realize that viewers need an emotional connection to those characters for their demise to have any impact, which makes those deaths less effective. There are positive aspects; people who enjoy escape room films, haunted houses, and time loop stories will likely find something enjoyable here. However, it attempts to encompass too many elements while simultaneously falling short in several areas.
