This is a remarkable, visually striking, somber film (noir). It evokes the spirit of Val Lewton’s work, blending romance with elements of horror within an exceptionally eerie coastal setting. The movie explores themes of isolation and the desperation that can lead someone to embrace risky connections simply for a sense of belonging. Curtis Harrington really should be far more widely recognized. "Because I feel the seawater in my veins. Because I listen to the roar of the sea and it speaks to me like a mother's voice. The tide pulls at my heart, and the face of the moon fills my soul with a strange longing."
