While I didn’t find 'Nickel Boys' as appealing due to its deliberate pacing and artistic approach, it’s clear that it possesses merit. I can see why others have lauded it; it simply didn’t resonate with me on a personal level. It remains a worthwhile film, and I don’t have significant criticisms beyond what I mentioned earlier. The acting from Ethan Herisse and Brandon Wilson is commendable, though I struggled to form a strong connection with the characters beyond their unfortunate circumstances. The unusual narrative perspective employed in the movie didn't assist me in that regard, even if it's an intriguing idea. My individual assessment of the film isn’t really the most important thing here, because it is positive that this story is receiving so much attention—primarily to highlight the terrible reform school upon which it is based. It's upsetting how many institutions like that have existed or still exist worldwide. Just awful.
