It seems like whoever made this film has been influenced by "Dr. Who"!. However, neither the performances nor the script manage to make good use of the unusual premise for this science fiction thriller. Nicolas Cage portrays "Cris," a character who evidently dislikes the letter “h.” He possesses the power to glimpse two minutes into the future and employs it as a magician working in Las Vegas. Things are going well until FBI agent "Ferris" (Julianne Moore) develops an idea to exploit his ability to stop some dishonest Russian terrorists from setting off a nuclear weapon in California. The situation escalates for Cage when his girlfriend, "Liz" (Jessica Biel), becomes involved as well. While the movie does maintain a brisk pace, there's not even a sense of real danger present. The conversations and action sequences feel like they’ve been copied directly from a very basic children's book series, and Moore seems uncomfortable attempting to keep this unoriginal and fragmented narrative on track—receiving little assistance from a remarkably stiff Cage. It’s clearly destined for video release, and even the most dedicated enthusiasts of the genre or these performers will likely be let down.
