It proved to be diverting, though not consistently so, as a science fiction thriller. Nicolas Cage’s performance was adequate, but the romantic storyline felt off due to the age difference between his character and the woman he was with; the hair dye didn't disguise his mid-50s appearance, which significantly detracted from what should have been a central element of the film. The special effects also appeared low quality, suggesting that the action set pieces were beyond the production’s financial means. Despite these shortcomings, I thought it was an acceptable way to spend some time and the concept itself had potential, perhaps better suited for television. 3.0/5
