It’s really good, I expect to watch it again, and I suggest others give it a try. I wouldn’t usually equate clairvoyance with time travel, but the way it functions in this film is basically a form of temporal displacement. He seems to propel himself ahead in time, then appears to move back to an earlier point before he observes what happens afterward. The idea itself is fascinating, though potentially difficult to translate into a visual medium. The filmmakers really do a remarkable job showing Nicholas Cage simply standing still as he "sees" things and keeping it engaging. Julianne Moore contributes by portraying a strong woman in a position of authority, but Jessica Biel, despite her own abilities, isn't given much more than the role of someone needing rescue. Cage largely drives the narrative forward, though his performance is noticeably less eccentric than what he’s known for, which might be reassuring to some viewers. Be sure to consider this next time you want something different from typical action movies.
