The initial concept was appealing and I enjoyed the beginning portion, roughly the first half-hour, but it really declined afterward, particularly during the last twenty minutes. The performances were good; Walken was excellent in his uniquely Walken way, as were Dafoe and Argento, though the narrative didn’t quite coalesce effectively. This is my introduction to Abel Ferrara's work, although I am familiar with his name, and I appreciated his directorial approach. It’s probably not ideal viewing for a late-night movie session. **2.0/5**
