It’s hard to understand the creative decisions behind this film. For a time, people considered it the low point of the 007 movies, though later installments have surpassed it in awfulness. The movie fails to achieve its apparent goal of being a dark and serious Hollywood production; it's simply dull. There’s barely anything resembling a plot—viewers will likely lose interest before any story even begins to unfold. It involves a large-scale plan to endanger the world, with Bond intervening to prevent disaster. The problem isn’t with Connery’s performance; instead, it's the screenplay, the direction, and a pervasive sense of tedium, all combined with standard Hollywood storytelling tropes. This feels like an overly polished, “Hollywood” version of Thunderball. It seems designed to appeal specifically to female audiences, featuring a heroine portrayed as an unremarkable woman intended for women to relate to. There’s nothing about this movie that sticks with you. You'll see that yourself if you decide to watch it.
