It’s not an awful follow-up to the initial installment; the cast is entirely new (with Evan Peters reprising a smaller part from before), although the storyline feels familiar. This time around, we observe four fighters rather than just one, which provides a welcome shift. Honestly, I'm uncertain if any of those four would carry their own movie because it seems they were selected for their fighting skills more so than their acting talent. However, they fulfill the requirements of their roles and each character’s personality shines through; while none are likely to receive awards for these performances, they are perfectly adequate. Michael Jai White delivers a notable performance as their mentor. It's far from flawless, and it appears the production budget was only about one-tenth that of the first film, but they manage to create a reasonably entertaining movie, complete with an excellent soundtrack. After a second viewing—I initially rated it a 6 out of 10—I’m inclined to bump my score up to a 6.5 out of 10.
