The prison psychiatrist, "Martin" (Jordan Belfi), is assigned by the warden (Tom Ohmer) to assess whether an inmate is mentally stable enough for execution. This prisoner, however, turns out to be a significant challenge for the typically methodical professional. The man (Sean Patrick Flanery) insists he’s possessed by a demon and wants to die so he can leave this body! It seems ridiculous, naturally, but he possesses knowledge he shouldn't, and his remarks quickly begin to disturb and confuse "Martin." Sean Patrick Flanery gives a surprisingly strong performance; there’s something almost captivating about the intensity of his portrayal. The writing is another story entirely. One could see it as stimulating or simply commonplace—either way, it demands attention, along with the unusual and often conflicting beliefs being presented and challenged during their somewhat artificial discussions. If that's what it sets out to do, then seeing it would be worthwhile. However, as a straightforward horror offering, it feels familiar and forgettable, failing to hit the mark.
