This movie is undeniably goofy and nonsensical, yet possesses a certain appeal. *Nativity!* isn’t meant to be viewed with intense scrutiny; however, there's still enjoyment to be had from it. Martin Freeman portrays Mr. Maddens believably, showing his imperfections, while Marc Wootton gives himself completely to the character of the questionable Mr. Poppy—he can occasionally grate on your nerves, but ultimately he’s more amusing than bothersome, barely. I also discovered Alan Carr to be unexpectedly funny as Patrick Burns. It was interesting to notice Clarke Peters, Ricky Tomlinson and Jason Watkins were part of the cast too. It's obviously geared towards families and younger viewers, and in my opinion, they succeeded well with that intention. The film is pleasant because you can tell the child actors are having a good time participating. I’m curious about what the three follow-up films will offer.
