It’s a regrettable experience. I can see that *Napoleon and Samantha* was aiming for a more serious atmosphere, but unfortunately, the effect doesn't quite land, resulting in a sluggish and unexciting story. The film includes Michael Douglas and Jodie Foster among its performers; however, Foster has very little screen time, and Douglas portrays a strangely conceived individual. Johnny Whitaker, following his appearance in *The Biscuit Eater*, is passable. Will Geer’s part brings some emotional depth, though not much else. It seems they attempted to incorporate too many diverse components, which ultimately makes the film feel cluttered and underdeveloped. There's even a lion included, seemingly without purpose. Several plot threads and characters are left untouched. Without revealing specifics, it all feels rather disjointed. The premise held promise and seemed interesting, but that potential wasn’t realized at all. It’s disheartening.
