It’s great to be young, to have a girlfriend, and other things happening! I heard this is a prequel to the 1996 film 'My Sex Life,' which I haven't watched, but it seemed promising—and it isn't. It’s unclear how much knowledge of the original movie one needs, although I don’t believe it matters too much since it functions as an origin story. Everything begins here and then continues on from there. I decided to watch it, hoping to enjoy it, but wasn't completely satisfied. The narrative unfolded in segments. It started like a spy thriller of sorts, but when the 'Esther' segment began, it shifted into a romance drama. The plot centers around a man who is under investigation after another person with his identity surfaces. He recounts events from his school years, including his first girlfriend and the difficulties he encountered during that time. This includes how he won her over from older boys and details about his close friend, until he left them behind to work in Central Asia. Primarily, it’s a love story with some unexpected turns in the relationship, but how everything resolves remains unclear even after the final scene. The problem is that it doesn't delve into anything deeply; it simply presents events from a young man's romantic life. The ending especially felt disappointing. I now think I need to see the original film because the next installment could pick up where this one left off. I’ll leave a space (_b_l_a_n_k__s_p_a_c_e_) until I watch it and update my review if I change my opinion. Even if I didn't like it, I still plan to add more later. For now, the film feels like a French version of 'Flashbacks of a Fool.' Technically, there’s nothing wrong with it; my issue is solely with the screenplay. The actors were excellent, and without question, it's a well-made movie that some people will find enjoyable—hopefully you are one of them. 6/10
