It’s an unremarkable but inoffensive film that manages to fill about ninety minutes without being truly unpleasant. I thought 'MVP: Most Valuable Primate' was acceptable enough. It doesn’t demand any intellectual effort; it’s quite absurd and certainly won’t be appearing on lists of the best films or receiving significant accolades. Nevertheless, I didn’t find myself disliking anything about it as a movie experience. The plot is thin, but it holds up to viewing. Surprisingly, the initial scenes possess more substance than expected. Kevin Zegers and Jamie Renée Smith are pleasant enough in the leading roles, and the chimpanzees are undeniably cute – they’re also quite believable performers! Rick Ducommun has a part as well; I always think of him from 1994's 'Blank Check'. Also, I was certain Devin Ratray portrayed Larry, but it turns out that role went to Trevor Roberts—they look very much alike! Two more installments remain in this series. It’s bound to be one of the greatest trilogies ever made, I imagine.
