Despite its flaws, *’MVP 2: Most Vertical Primate'* isn't entirely bad, but it doesn’t live up to the quality of the first one. I don’t really have any complaints about these movies—they are so straightforward and uncomplicated in a cinematic sense that I find it difficult to get bored. Of course, there’s always the ethical question of using animals for entertainment. That being said, this is undeniably a bad movie, particularly when put next to the initial film in the series. The human performers aren't as good as before, the chimpanzees don't seem as skillfully trained or believable and the storyline feels disjointed; while a skateboarding chimp can be an amusing idea, combining it with the ice hockey elements just doesn’t click. The scenes featuring Scott Goodman and Richard Karn are, by default, the movie's best parts, even though the younger actor's limited skills do hold things back—and I certainly don’t mean to criticize him. Then there's *’MXP: Most Xtreme Primate'* – they really couldn't have at least tried to keep with the original MVP naming convention, could they?
