Keaton is excellent in what proves to be a delightful and entertaining sci-fi comedy. Doug Kinney finds himself constantly short on time, leading to a hectic existence and difficulties with his family, until the opportunity arises for him to create duplicates of himself. It’s true that some criticisms of this film center around the idea that it squanders a promising concept; while *Multiplicity* isn't a comedic triumph, dismissing it as lacking humor or charm, especially given its romantic elements, seems harsh. The movie presents four versions of Doug Kinney, each with distinct personalities making it simple for viewers to tell them apart. Michael Keaton gives four strong performances portraying the different Dougs, and the film is consistently funny because of it. However, director Harold Ramis plays things cautiously, as the outcome feels predictable from early on, and a sense of warmth permeates even during chaotic moments. But does that diminish the movie? Not in my view. *Multiplicity* successfully blends sci-fi comedy with romance, without getting bogged down in scientific accuracy. Just for Doug number four—with his skiing abilities and love of pizza—the film earns a rating of 7/10, while Keaton’s performance warrants an even higher mark.
