The movie 'Mr. Right' centers on a hitman who grapples with the idea that killing is wrong. However, something feels off about the film; it doesn’t quite land as an action-comedy or a romantic comedy, instead presenting itself in a rather disjointed way. It's hard to discern a clear beginning or end, and the script doesn't feel particularly well-crafted. While the performances were acceptable, the scenes didn't have the impact they should have had. The director, known for 'Neon Flesh,' hasn’t managed to recapture that film's quality in his subsequent projects, including this one. The screenplay shares noticeable similarities with ‘American Ultra,’ and those connections are apparent if you’ve seen both. Anna Kendrick’s role echoes Jesse Eisenberg’s character from that earlier film, and Sam Rockwell seems reminiscent of Kristen Stewart’s part as well. At one point, a character references a shared secret project, leading me to believe these films exist within the same universe and this is a spin-off. The pairing of Sam Rockwell and Anna Kendrick was the most enjoyable aspect of 'Mr. Right.' I'd be interested in seeing them tackle a more substantial story together down the line. The action sequences were well done, but beyond that, it wasn’t particularly humorous or romantic. Ultimately, the film didn't resonate with me because the combination of elements felt commonplace these days. It fell short due to a lack of originality and thorough development, though it isn’t inherently a bad movie if you're simply looking for entertainment. I suspect there's an audience for this kind of thing who will support it. If you're considering watching it, that’s fine—I won’t stop you—just proceed with caution. 5/10
