It’s frankly embarrassing that Warner Brothers and Criterion have neglected to release a Blu-ray version. This superb movie, which represents Hitchcock's sole effort in pure romantic comedy, does have its critics. The reason seems to be the absence of murders or moments of intense suspense. But those criticisms are nonsense. I can’t imagine Hitchcock ever phoned anything in. It works well on multiple levels and is at minimum a humorous, skillfully made, and pleasant entry into its category. Hitchcock created this film specifically so he could collaborate with the exceptionally gifted (and strikingly beautiful) Carole Lombard, who delivers another strong performance. His preference for lovely blondes is something everyone knows. Robert Montgomery also does a commendable job. Any fan of Hitchcock’s work really ought to watch this film.
