An average rating of 1.8 on Letterboxd is pretty harsh, even if I do share the sentiment that it’s not particularly strong. Leslie Nielsen truly shines as the main character; he delivers a solid performance. Jennifer Garner appears in the film too, but the rest of the actors seem to be phoning it in. The basic idea isn't the absolute worst thing I've come across, although it is fairly uninspired and disorganized. I wouldn’t go so far as to say *Mr. Magoo* is completely terrible—with the obvious exception of that scene using brownface. It’s an easy film to watch, one that doesn’t demand your full focus. I'd suggest watching it mainly for Nielsen's performance and maybe even the dog.
