While it’s clear the filmmakers had good intentions, *Moxie* feels awkward and uncomfortable for much of its length. I don’t believe anyone would fault the film for the subject matter it tackles; credit is due for what it aims to convey. Nevertheless, evaluating it as a movie reveals significant shortcomings. The conversations feel unnatural, and the characters' behavior is stilted and contrived. It states information that’s already understood and then stops there. The individual personalities didn’t make much of an impression. Vivian (Hadley Robinson) and Lucy (Alycia Pascual-Peña) are presented as the central figures, though the former proved more annoying than anything else, while the latter is poorly developed – for instance, she initially seems quite unpleasant before unexpectedly becoming agreeable later on; those around Vivian & Co., excluding Mitchell (Patrick Schwarzenegger), didn’t fare much better. Reducing the film's length and adding greater complexity to the characters and storyline would have made a considerable difference. It isn’t entirely awful, that’s true. It was also nice to see Sydney Park (Kiera), who previously appeared in *The Walking Dead*.
