Claudia, a driven lawyer aiming for partnership at her firm, finds her ambitions have distanced her from her family. A mysterious woman—played by Faye Dunaway—uses magic to show Claudia what her life could be like if she’d chosen a different path, complete with a husband and children. Initially, Claudia just wants to return to her legal career, but as time passes, she begins to appreciate the joys of being a wife and mother and questions whether she truly wants to go back. This woman essentially places Claudia in an alternate reality to give her perspective. In this new life, Claudia is married to Bill and has two children, having abandoned her professional aspirations. She quickly realizes she lacks even basic domestic skills like changing diapers or packing lunches! Furthermore, Bill believes she's upset about a previous disagreement, leaving Claudia struggling with awkwardness in their relationship. Importantly, she gains insight into her sister’s viewpoint regarding a case she missed out on, and her sister might be right. Claudia desperately wants to return to her former life, but is she truly ready to do so? The film follows a familiar pattern seen in movies like *Sliding Doors* and *17 Again*, exploring the concept of alternative choices. Fortunately, it avoids excessive sentimentality; it’s funny, clever, and heartwarming. Daphne Zuniga shines as a comedian, and Dan Payne is a charming newcomer. The supporting cast, including Dunaway, also delivers solid performances. The film's visual elements—the costumes, sets, and art direction—are well-executed, complementing the polished script and energetic directing. It’s a movie that would be perfect for setting a Thanksgiving mood, even outside of the holiday season. A high-achieving attorney named Claudia (Daphne Zuniga), who excelled at Harvard Law, is entirely focused on her career and achieving partnership at her demanding firm. Her ambition has led to missed family events, and she’s about to miss this year's Thanksgiving at her sister’s house (played by Gina Holden, a stay-at-home mom) when a mysterious figure (Faye Dunaway) transports her into an alternate reality where she chose marriage and motherhood over practicing law. The premise echoes *The Christmas Clause*, but resets the story from Christmas to Thanksgiving and reverses the situation—instead of showing a mother what life would be like as a successful lawyer, this film shows a lawyer what a richer existence could be if she broadened her focus beyond just her career. While both films share a similar structure, this version feels more skillfully made, even though it adheres to familiar Hallmark conventions; it avoids many of the clichés that made *Christmas* feel ordinary. The acting is generally good, but Kennedi Clements, playing Claudia’s alternate reality daughter, steals every scene in what appears to be her film debut. Daphne Zuniga remains beautiful as well. I'm pleased to recommend this enjoyable movie with its strong family themes and suitability for family viewing; it's appropriate for viewers ages twelve and up due to some language.
