The film “Alfonso” shares similarities with the classic story of “Don Quixote,” featuring a boy who sometimes struggles to tell what's real from what he imagines. Everyone in the story notices that the weather is becoming more extreme, and storms—along with unwanted property offers from the unpleasant “Carrasco”—are causing people to leave their La Mancha village. He and his three rabbits befriend “Pancho” and “Victoria,” and together they decide to investigate a link between the developer and these sudden rains. While the plot isn’t particularly suspenseful or groundbreaking, it's an enjoyable adventure with lots happening, including inventive gadgets and plenty of imagination for those who remember having friends that only they understood. It might not be essential to see in theaters, but I observed some children laughing during my viewing, which is a positive sign because the film emphasizes loyalty and friendship over constant computer-generated effects.
