The conclusion of the initial *'The Parent Trap'* movies arrives at an unfortunate juncture. *'Parent Trap: Hawaiian Honeymoon'* feels tedious, even with a welcome shift in scenery, ultimately seeming rather unnecessary. The familiar dynamic of *'The Parent Trap'* doesn’t really emerge until later on; much of the runtime is devoted to possible romantic interests for two out of the three sisters. The entire cast returns, which I always find pleasing; I dislike when established characters are played by different performers. Hayley Mills (as Susan/Sharon), Barry Bostwick (playing Jeffrey), and the Creel sisters all deliver acceptable performances. The new additions, like Jayne Meadows as Charlotte, don’t contribute a great deal however. It's good they decided to wrap up the storyline here, although they did remake the 1961 film nine years after this one came out. My general opinion of these four films is mostly positive, something I didn't anticipate honestly. The first installment is truly enjoyable, while the second is decent—I could have skipped the third and fourth.
