I’m exhausted just thinking about it... The rapid-fire energy of this comedy romance really wore me out, even though I didn’t move from my seat (aside from adjusting the oxygen!). Cary Grant portrays a somewhat clumsy character who is on the verge of completing his impressive dinosaur skeleton and getting married—all on the same day. Before that can happen, he needs to convince a lawyer for an important local person to give $1 million to his museum by playing golf, which is how he encounters a spirited, unpredictable Katherine Hepburn, and suddenly his carefully planned life is disrupted and then complicated further. When he finds out she has a leopard named "Baby," things quickly spiral into disorder for them and everyone around them. The two leads are fantastic in their roles, and their obvious delight is infectious. The conversation moves swiftly, and there’s plenty of (expected) amusement to be found throughout this entertaining story. I have to admit the dog's barking did become irritating after a while, and some of the physical comedy feels overly broad for modern audiences, particularly at the end—but it’s a delightful, lighthearted adventure featuring two performers we likely won’t see matched again anytime soon.
