It makes one curious to imagine what unfolded within the Duke’s home when his son offered him a large Bourbon and suggested they view his latest film together. That scenario alone would have made for an interesting, insightful documentary! A group of mismatched characters arrives on a remote island with the goal of finding a fabled pearl treasure, seemingly disregarding the customs of the peculiar local people. The movie includes predictable romantic elements played broadly, obvious greed, and a truly poor showing from Vic Diaz. The screenplay and storyline are incredibly weak; it’s hard to take seriously. There's an abundance of unremarkable underwater scenes, except for the final moments when British viewers will likely recognize the music used—it’s the same theme from ITN’s "News at Ten," minus the chimes.
