It's easy to assume a horror movie like Faces of Death would feature some memorable violent scenes, but even those are bland and lack imagination. The film comes across as carelessly revived; the shock value has been swapped for indifference, along with characters and acting so irritating that you’ll want to physically strike them. Even attempts at self-awareness seem awkwardly inserted, seemingly intended to elicit a predictable online reaction—like the inclusion of Leonardo DiCaprio gesturing emphatically toward the screen, which instead provokes reactions ranging from exasperation to outright embarrassment.
