Bernard B. Ray didn’t waste any time putting this brisk, compact film together. "Duke" (Neil Hamilton), a detective, and his lawyer wife "Phyllis" (June Storey) are investigating the killing of an important judge, convinced that the woman on trial is not guilty. As more deaths occur, they realize they're in danger themselves and need to figure out who’s behind it all quickly. The plot is fairly good, and while the performers aren't particularly outstanding, they manage to make the occasionally spirited writing work, despite the slow pace of the production. A diverting car chase near the end helps keep things going for about an hour. It was a cheaply made film that served its purpose back then, and though it’s not something special, it remains enjoyable enough to watch.
