This movie depicts a high school graduation party held at a large house in Wichita that is then disrupted by violent intruders. Filmed during the spring of 1986, it’s a low-budget slasher film featuring unknown performers and starts with scenes taken from “Graduation Day,” which came out five years prior—and even that earlier movie proves to be more enjoyable overall. While it does contain familiar elements typical of the genre, and includes a reasonably good (though hard to believe) surprise at the conclusion, the central antagonist feels over-the-top and unbelievable, as do many aspects of what’s happening on screen; the story would have benefited from revisions to make it more engaging. Because of these issues, “Night Screams” is not well known, and that makes sense. I've certainly witnessed films that were less appealing than this one, though. The runtime is 1 hour, 25 minutes, and filming took place in Wichita, Kansas. GRADE: C/C-
