Wuchak on Iced

6/10 · Sep 1, 2023

A group of affluent friends are asked to attend the launch of a ski resort located in northern Utah, only to discover someone is out to eliminate them one by one. The question arises – could this be the work of a former friend who perished in a skiing accident several years prior? “Iced” (1988) falls into the category of classic slasher films, reminiscent of “Snowbeast” and sharing qualities with “Satan’s Blade” from the early 1980s. The film "Donner Pass," released twenty-two years later, drew inspiration from these movies to create what is considered a superior example of the genre. If you're a fan of any of those films, “Iced” might be worth watching even though it follows a predictable plot and has some subpar musical cues—though not throughout entirely. The atmosphere is quite appealing, and ultimately, the film provides exactly what it promises. As events unfold, we get to know more about the characters. Lisa Loring, widely recognized for her role as Wednesday Addams in *The Addams Family*, offers a memorable performance among the female cast. The movie has a runtime of 1 hour and 26 minutes and was filmed in north-central Utah, including sections shot in Big Cottonwood Canyon, which is situated about twelve miles east of Salt Lake City.
