This film feels lifted directly from a classic collection of British colonial stories, presenting a disgraced officer, "Lt. Case" (Ronald Lewis), who’s forced into service alongside their mountain adversary, "Eli Khan" (Oliver Reed). He's seeking retribution against the colonel (Duncan Lamont) responsible for his mistreatment. The appearance of reporter "Marriot" (Glen Houston) causes disruption not only within the military but also leads a former soldier to seek someone in the mountains with whom he can share his thoughts. It’s apparent that while there’s some level of cooperation between the tribal leader and the defector, it seems probable that “Case” hasn't fully relinquished his allegiance to the crown—and his superior has similar concerns. Reed doesn't quite seem right in his elaborate costume, yet there are still several diverting episodes filled with patriotic displays, gunfire, and a sense of danger amongst some rather artificial-looking scenery. Yvonne Romain appears occasionally as "Ratina," attempting to emulate Caroline Munro, but thankfully this aspect doesn’t detract from the straightforward adventure elements involving daring feats and sharp weapons. I doubt anyone will recall it later on, but given my fondness for this type of story, it's enjoyable enough.
