'Away All Boats' can be a bit tedious to get through. I didn’t really sense the supposed importance of what was happening until near the very end, when things finally arrive at their conclusion—and that’s honestly the only part worth noting. Otherwise, the story just seems like one long training session rather than a journey across the Pacific during wartime. Jeff Chandler does an okay job with his part, but the other actors tend to blend together in my mind. Clint Eastwood has a very brief appearance—it's practically uncredited and represents the second-to-last role he ever had. This film from 1956 isn’t one I’d recommend seeking out, unfortunately. I was expecting something at least as good as, if not better than, 'The Battle of the River Plate'—which came out about two months later.
