A covert operative for the CIA attempts to prevent a lethal virus from causing millions of deaths, though honestly, I’d prefer experiencing that outcome rather than enduring another seventy-one minutes of this film. Agent Nash, portrayed by Jason Toler, is dealing with brain damage he sustained while serving in Iraq. He's teamed up with Mara (Sarah Brine) when the dangerous chemical XZ-9 is stolen from a laboratory. There are some disloyal agents within Nash’s department—Winston (Chris Spinelli) and Dexter (Adam Weston Poell)—who want the substance, along with crime boss Wan (Benny Tjandra)...I have to say, I was completely lost throughout this movie. Let's set aside any issues related to the low budget or the acting for a moment. The script itself is baffling. I wasn’t sure who any of the characters were, what XZ-9 actually is (a chemical? a virus? maybe even laundry detergent?), despite it being mentioned countless times in the film. Following a strange opening scene set in Iraq, I simply stopped trying to follow along. This feels like an amateur production where many people involved in front of the camera also had jobs behind it—though not in any admirable way. One minor character incorrectly pronounces "emeritus," and that mistake ended up being included in the final version. The narrative is periodically interrupted with generic clips of large cities, seemingly to create a sense of grand scale, but sometimes these clips don’t fit the screen dimensions correctly or are repeated later on. The audio quality is awful; even the automated subtitle program I was using couldn't decipher what some characters were saying, and it just put "(mumbles)" instead. The action sequences are dull and unintentionally funny—don’t bother looking at that cool poster because nothing from it appears in this film, which mostly shows our hero sitting at a desk rather than doing anything or attempting to save the world. I understand wanting to work within limited resources, but this is just absurd; it's as if the filmmakers were eager to finish this quickly to meet an Amazon Prime release date, since that platform seems to specialize in films of this caliber. This isn’t a cheap imitation of James Bond; it’s more like a knockoff of a knockoff of a knockoff of James Bond. And speaking of James Bond, the most terrifying thing awaits those few viewers who make it through the credits—a promise that Nash will be back in a sequel that absolutely nobody wants to see.
