I hold a great deal of admiration for these female journalists; I’d award each of them, as well as the group together, a perfect score and commend their bravery and resolve. Nevertheless, in my view, this documentary about their work doesn't quite live up to its potential given what it portrays. There are two main reasons why I feel this way. Primarily, the interviews and filming lack a sense of energy; there’s no visible excitement or anger that must have fueled them during those conversations. I understand they wanted to maintain a professional demeanor throughout the film, but surely there were instances where their enthusiasm shone through—times when they truly connected with both their identities as women and as journalists and allowed themselves to be fully expressive. They mention being in danger on several occasions, yet it doesn’t quite feel tangible without more specific information or personal accounts. Additionally, numerous incidents and narratives are presented, but beyond a single instance where we discover that an arrest was made following the publication of a story, we don't really learn about how these reports were received or what consequences they had. The only updates we receive relate to the increasing number of views on YouTube. I want to acknowledge the courage of these journalists and thank the production team for creating this documentary about them. I simply believe that there were missed chances to enhance the narrative.
